This blog was started on 01 Aug '06, when some ex-students (ecommerce) asked me about how to make money from blogging. So everyday, I will set aside some time from my business to consolidate and create articles.

| FAQ |
Will there be any loss to the visitors that click your ads?
The answer is No. Every click is payable by the providers (e.g. Google, ClickSor) which charges advertisers for a fee to place their products or services via them at your blog.
In another word, the money you receive is in fact from the advertisers and these providers are just middleman that faciliate the service.
So do I click any ads when I am visiting others' blogs?
Why not? If it is something that interests you, a recommended product or services that you find value add, just click it.
The visitors get values from the links, the bloggers get to earn some coins or dollars, the ad providers make a cut also and the advertisers get to have a new potential customer too. Everyone wins! :)

| Lets build it - Part 02 |
| Thursday, August 03, 2006 |
On the second part of 'Lets build it', we will first build up a foundation of understanding what is going on in the template of your blog.
This is important when the designs, settings and placement of advertisements (such as Google Adsense) evolves around your knowledge, skills and the basic understanding of all those settings.
~Ignore the following portion if you already know your way around in blogger~
After clicking the blogger button (image) click onto 'Change Settings' and you will see 'Posting', 'Settings', 'Template' and 'View Blog'. Ignore the lower navigation bar and just go straight to the 'Template'. From here we shall also refer it as blogger 'template'.
In the template, you will see a box which is where all the settings are located.
Remember: make a backup copy of all the original codes before fiddling with it.
Make a quick study of which bunch of codes refer to certain settings in your blog. What I will suggest is open another window (will be easier if you are using Firefox browser) and do a simple 'Find' (Control F) on your notepad where all the codes are, and search for the words that appear in your default blogger and match them.
Additional references: Anatomy of a blog and Template tags
Do a few times of these comparisons to get a feel of where which codes represent what at your original blog.
See the following image: - a copy of your blog's codes - a reference to 'About me' - where the texts appear at your blog
Spend some time to understand what is really going on from those codes. You can also refer to this link on those HTML tags too.
Following up will be Part 03 of 'Lets build it. |
