This blog was started on 01 Aug '06, when some ex-students (ecommerce) asked me about how to make money from blogging. So everyday, I will set aside some time from my business to consolidate and create articles.

FAQ
Will there be any loss to the visitors that click your ads?
The answer is No. Every click is payable by the providers (e.g. Google, ClickSor) which charges advertisers for a fee to place their products or services via them at your blog.
In another word, the money you receive is in fact from the advertisers and these providers are just middleman that faciliate the service.
So do I click any ads when I am visiting others' blogs?
Why not? If it is something that interests you, a recommended product or services that you find value add, just click it.
The visitors get values from the links, the bloggers get to earn some coins or dollars, the ad providers make a cut also and the advertisers get to have a new potential customer too. Everyone wins! :)

The 'Ws'
Saturday, February 03, 2007
Ask yourself what these few 'Ws' mean to you;
"What, Why, Where"
i. What is the X factor that attracts readers to your blog? ii. Why will they visit yours instead of others especially competitors? Q. Where are they from and where they head to after visiting your blog? iii. What is it that will attract readers to your blog?
Identify the core, the one or few things that you think attracted your readers to come visit your blog more than once. Then break it down to the number of days, weeks or even month and evaluate from there what are the clicked links, how long they stay at that particular page etc. How? There was an article about putting counter at your blog and breaking down those details for you to view. See here
Q. Why will they visit yours instead of others especially competitors?
This is a bit challenging to know but before I go into details about it, let me first tell you that any bloggers like you and I do not just go loyal to any blogs just becos the blogs provided some very good hints and tips on making money. Bloggers are also internet surfers, and we are a bunch of impatience people that at the click of a mouse jumps from one site to another. It is made worse with good browsers like firefox where you can tab browse quickly.
Anyway, just know that you cannot stop your readers from reading other blogs. Dont. But what you can do is put up good contents, information, value-added stuffs to share with them. Instead of just thinking how to retain them, think of it as all your readers are a walking marketing person that will promote your blog, all for free. Think big, dont think small. :)
Q. Where are they from and where they head to after visiting your blog?
This is important cos with these information on hand, you can adjust your blog accordingly to cater to the biggest group of readers. Why? Meeting the 'customers' needs and requirements is very important. If you are not providing what the customers want (in a reasonable manner) they will not come again. You will lost hits to your site, opportunity to sell whatever stuffs or even lesser clicks to your google or other advertisements. See here to track.
As for tracking where they are heading to, this is also important cos you wanna know if they clicked any of the outgoing links especially if you are selling stuffs and evaluate from there if it is generating any positive impact. Also, it will indicate which are the links that generated interests amongst them and from there you can focus more on those especially those advertisements.

You know what I really like about this new age of citizen centric journalism? It is the change and shift in paradigm - from competition to co-opetition, from deceit to decency, and from profiteering to customer value. The whole paradigm is shifting and the age-old us versus them mentality needs to be changed.

Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. I was reading this book, 'The World is Flat' and it goes very well with what is happening now in the world.
