FAQ
Will there be any loss to the visitors that click your ads?
The answer is No. Every click is payable by the providers (e.g. Google, ClickSor) which charges advertisers for a fee to place their products or services via them at your blog.

In another word, the money you receive is in fact from the advertisers and these providers are just middleman that faciliate the service.

So do I click any ads when I am visiting others' blogs?
Why not? If it is something that interests you, a recommended product or services that you find value add, just click it.

The visitors get values from the links, the bloggers get to earn some coins or dollars, the ad providers make a cut also and the advertisers get to have a new potential customer too. Everyone wins! :)

Be Honest with Blog Titles
Friday, August 24, 2007
Too many times bloggers make use of very catchy blog titles to capture the attention of other bloggers to their sites. It can be something related to sex but has nothing in the content to justify it or some pun intented title only to have the readers themselves realised it is not as it is.

Strike a balance on it cos at the end of the day, readers are not stupid nor naive. Once bitten, twice shy. They wont bother to visit your blog again, anymore.

One of the example, will be in Ping.sg where some blog titles are not at all related to their content. After I visited once and found out it is just a bait, I will immediately go back to Ping.sg and click the 'I hate this blog' to highlight to me that this is a blog to avoid. The blogger is not honest, it is just a bait to have more traffic and probably to increase the chances of having some clicks to its advertisements too. Life will be better not to be associated with such bloggers.

By being honest with relevant titles to your latest entries, you may draw more crowds than go around pissing off others to your blog.

it isn't quite fair to those who took their time to write a proper good entry. I totally agree with u. Especially those who simply cut and paste jokes, articles, videos and have a very suggestive title or sometime totally unrelated to the post itself.

come to think of it, i have yet to click on the 'i hate this blog' button..looks like its time to do that! :P

DK, I thought you only lie to girls. Never expect that you will lie to me.... so sad. hhah!!

I think at the end of the day, readers are smart enough to know if it is a bait or a genuine blog entry :)

Eileen, try the 'I hate this blog' button. It really helps you in speeding up those not so okay blogs with those better ones.

I am also quite tempted to click "I hate this blog" button when I chanced upon such blogs. But then sometimes I feel I should not be too harsh and must give them some chances too.

Right now only those that truly piss me off then I will click that special button.

I just click (-) on ping.sg and go. Just what with these people and their obsession with pongs?!

Paddy, I totally agree with you! Some sensationalize their entries with eye-popping titles and upon clicking, the entry is not what it was "promised" by the title.

I also agree with Eileen in a certain extend. Though some blogs are really entertaining, their entries are not "original" in a certain way.
It's funny to see how one entry pops up into the top 10 and you'll see a few more entries by others regarding the same topic. If they are advertorials, I guess we all will understand why. If they are not advertorials, maybe it's really pure coincidence, but I think it's up to the onus of the others to say they got inspired by so and so, giving the "original" blogger a credit for sparking off such a train of thought.

Grievous, there are some who are really obsessed and would always shamlessly plug and plug non-stop in shoutbox or use other various ping/pong cheat methods to get the traffic they want. Haha...

But like what Paddy has said, once bitten, twice shy. Just like advertisements, if the headline doesn't give you that "promise" it had shown, readers will be disappointed and will write you off.

Oh, but then if the topic deals with public news such as transport costs, erps, odex, etc., then I think most of the time would be pure coincidence... hehe...

ooo actually I have the (bad) habit to play with words in my blog title, way before I joined ping.sg, so.... I am excused! LOL (altho i got complaints before)

    Seriously, pun was intended.

(on a defensive note) it takes 2 hands to clap, so... you put the hook there you also need to fish to swim towards to hook and get hooked right? =P

Truly agree with your view. The ping.sg mechanism does encourage people who want to be featured in most popular posts section to come up with sensational titles, sometimes the content is not even remotely related to the title.

Once something makes it to the 10 most popular posts, the ping.sg mechanism encourages ppl to click on them, which inflates the actual worthiness of the entry to be listed there.

And unless the post really pisses ppl off, most ppl will not bother to go back and click on the "I Hate This Blog" button. Maybe some user education is required, or make it easier to rate the blogs.
